How the Sloped Fee Works

Simply put, for the value supplied, Sloped takes a fee from every submitted invoice.

We see a lot of confusion about this, so let's just be direct about it.

The Sloped fee is not a markup on your professional's hourly rate. It is a percentage of the total project budget that you establish or the total hourly you are willing to pay. Sloped runs calculation off your total and takes a percentage — and your professional receives the remainder.

Here is how it works in practice:

On a fixed project budget:

You set a $10,000 project budget.

  • As a Sloped Member your fee is $10,000 × 15% = $1,500. Your professional receives $8,500.

  • As a Sloped Partner your fee is $10,000 × 25% = $2,500. Your professional receives $7,500.

On an hourly rate contract:

Your professional charges $40 per hour.

  • As a Sloped Member the total hourly rate on your invoice is $40 ÷ 0.85 = $47.06 per hour.

  • As a Sloped Partner the total hourly rate on your invoice is $40 ÷ 0.75 = $53.33 per hour.

The difference between what you pay and what your professional earns is the Sloped fee. Your professional always receives their full stated rate. Sloped never reduces their earnings unless they willingly negotiate for something lower for agreeable reasons. This sets us apart from all freelance marketplaces where the freelancer has to cut their rates to compete.
